So I actually also love the sound of trucks going down steep grades too. My mother was born and raised in the mountains of West Virginia and I grew up hearing trucks coming down off the mountains. You could always tell who didn't know the road just by the sound.
ReplyDeleteLove you're number 10!
Great to 'meet' you!
Cool answers. Odd fave sound...machines never quite do it for me. :)
ReplyDeleteI like your 'other' job. That would be a great subject to teach (and learn about.)
ReplyDeleteLiked your answers. See you in Hell >:)
ReplyDeleteCold As Heaven
Oh...you have a whole stack of cards! You, me and Cold As Heaven can hang out together in Hell. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great answer for #10! All of your answers are great, of course, but I do really like #10.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely intrigued by the diesel engine and the break. Why does that sound mean so much to you?
Rosie & J.C. - The engine retarder growls down a grade, a song of a life lived alone. It is the spirit of those who must move in restlessness, alway watching the horizon, always seeking someplace else. 80 thousand pounds and smoking breaks down a place named Cabbage, it is life. It stands between you and twisted metal. It is a pretty sound.
ReplyDeleteSome people feel the call of trains. I drove a truck, so that sound is my call.
Thanks for stopping by and I love your curse word...grin.
Laura & Cold - it sounds like a party -LOL
Thanks for all your comments!
But a literary agent has such power over writers.
ReplyDeleteAnd when you are a literary agent with a blog you have thousands of followers who are trying to suck up to you.

Great answers.
ReplyDeleteMy head is still spinning with your Lucifer above. Your writing has a deep ringing tone -I liked it.
Loved your answers!! In particular, I thought your answer for #4 was perfectly articulated. Where I live, there is an awful lot of what I call regurgitated credo. What ever happened to critical thinking? And I've really liked reading participants' answers to #10, but I've got to say, your response is the most interesting and creative of all!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for playing along!!
I like your answer to #3 - so true! #10 was a cool answer.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers. Number 4 was really good. I think literary agent would be a tough job too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your answers.
Interesting choice on the noises you love. I owned a diesel car once, and the only time I loved the sound of it was when it started on a cold morning :)
ReplyDeleteI'd like a few of those get-out-of-hell-free cards, if you have any left over....
ReplyDeleteNice! Thanks for visiting me, and I'm stalking you now!
